Project Engineer

Job description

Previous demonstrated BEMS experience required in various systems, Trend, Tridium, Siemens, Delta, Priva, Cylon, ALC, Distech & Schneider

Brief

In this role you will be responsible for managing small-scale projects from start to finish. This will include production of schedules, description of operation, modification of the panel design, production/modification of drawings and commissioning when required.

You will be expected to work well as part of a project team but also work efficiently on your own as required. As a part of the project team you will share technical knowledge with other whilst obtaining support from the team when necessary. This is a high-profile senior management function with a direct impact not only on the success of the national ECS division but the company.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall management of smaller-scale projects and ensuring the projects are delivered in line with the program of works and intended design.
  • Ensure compliance with company H&S and CDM requirements, including the production of relevant documentation.
  • To liaise with sub-contract engineers and clients and report back with any changes or issues.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining strong client relations.
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of sub-contractors.
  • Responsible for attending site-based commissioning/progress meetings as required.
  • Responsible, when necessary, for assisting with field point to point checks, terminations, panel and wiring mods where required.
  • Create & manage a project program of works.
  • Responsible for commissioning various DDC control systems when required (TREND, Tridium or others as required), completing wiring and commissioning schedules, updating control panel drawings and the description of operation in the commissioning file.
  • Responsible for procurement of control items, sizing control valves etc.
  • Ensure that all ‘AS COMMISSIONED’ information is collated and updated on the server.
  • Ensure witnessing packs are appropriately signed off.
  • Responsible for diligent demonstration and handover to client on projects.
  • Carry out site surveys as required and produce fully detailed reports complete with recommendations.
  • Attend training courses and meetings as required
  • Ensure works are carried out within the project method statement and risk assessments and amend where necessary with any required deviation.
  • Enforce the H & S interests of the company on a day-to-day basis for all employees and sub-contractors, create and enforce method statements and risk assessments and update when necessary.
  • Adhere to all client and company ISO, Health & Safety procedures, and policies.
  • Provide technical support to team members.
  • Be able to produce, submit and amend technical submittals for ECS projects including but not limited to the following as required:
  • Description of operations
  • Equipment schedules
  • Operating and Maintenance manuals
  • Be able to produce IO wiring diagram to be sent to panel designer and then review design once received from panel shop.
  • Be able to produce RFI's and tech subs to be sent to the client.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the directors/managers of the business.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Ability to work well as part of a team but also work efficiently on your own.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated, responsible and accountable.
  • Good customer relations.
  • Commercial awareness (training to be provided as required).
  • Good understanding of Safe Systems of Work and the importance of H&S in the workplace.

Technical

  • Have some experienced with at least one of the following systems:
  • Trend
  • Tridium
  • Schneider
  • Siemens
  • ALC
  • Knowledgeable with HVAC systems
  • Electrically Competent
  • Strong PC skills (Word and Excel)

KPIs

  • Compete Timesheets weekly
  • Expenses in monthly
  • Complete 1 vehicle check per week in checked safe app
  • Identify and report additional works for quotations generated

This role along with all company roles has a responsibility to ensure all visitors and operatives in the workplace adhere to the ECS Health and Safety policies and procedures.
