The Short term forecasting team at E.ON Energy Markets is responsible for the prediction of the power and gas demand of E.ON’s customers within Germany. To achieve this, the specific customer behavior as well as complex external factors (temperature, weather, economic factors) need to be incorporated into a forecast for the next day and up to 14 day ahead.

 

The task

 

  • Create short term forecasts under the consideration of complex influencing factors (e.g. historical consumption pattern, weather data, economic factors, development of prosumer and smart meter consumption)
  • Continuous restructuring of the customer portfolio according to consumption and production pattern and improve forecasting methodologies accordingly.
  • Analyze forecasting errors to optimize the parameters of the prediction models to achieve a high-quality forecast and comply with the requirement of balancing circle management.
  • Supervise the automated processes and interfaces of the used IT solutions and drive the improvement and further development of the systems in use.
  • Develop new concepts for improvements and implement them in agile projects as a product owner.
  • Perform ad-hoc analytics on the subject matter and support in related projects.

 

Background

  • University degree in a relevant technical, economical, IT or data science subject
  • Know how in energy economics with a focus on the German balancing and energy data management for power and gas.
  • Strong analytical skills and structured, methodological way of working
  • Strong communication skills
  • IT driven mind set and profound programming skills (e.g. SQL, Python, VBA…)
  • Knowledge on database structures and analytical skills
  • Drive to change and the motivation to develop, improve and create new business activities.
  • Be a team player
  • Profound German and English skills
