We're looking for a SHE Governance Advisor to join our Energy Infrastructure Services business within the Smart Field Connections team. This role it based at our Kingswinford site in the West Midlands.

Here's what you'll be doing

As a SHE Governance Advisor, you’ll play a vital role in developing and managing a Health and Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001 and work towards external accreditation within Smart Field Connections to ensure decisions and processes are documented and traceable where related to health and safety. This is to ensure our Smart Field Connections meet legal compliance and end to end business adherence to ensure Health and Safety is core and traceable to all activities completed within the business. 

Within this role you’ll also manage administration and communication of all relevant Health and Safety statistics throughout the business to ensure employees and service providers are aware of their performance and regularly informed of the correct ways of working. This also includes establishing key internal stakeholder relationships to keep informed of business changes, new processes, future plans and changes to make sure Health and Safety is considered in implementation.

Other key responsibilities: 

  • Manage the incident and investigation platform for Smart Field Connections including managing the SHE analysis and administration team
  • Support the business with contractor and service provider selection and tendering for third party work where required.
  • Work closely with the SHE Lead Advisor to support the development of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Understand the business structure and activities within Smart Field Connections to provide expertise on all matters relating to health and safety.
  • Manage regular reviews of documentation to ensure compliance to legal requirements and those set out within the management system.
  • Provide governance support to both our internal and external stakeholders, to ensure Industrial and Commercial customers are provided with the relevant information to ensure works can be undertaken.
  • Provide monthly KPI packs relating to health and safety data for Smart Field Connections and third party service providers.

What we need from you

  • NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) Certificate and /or equivalent. 
  • A proven ability to manage a Health and Safety Management System. 
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to filter complex issues into a simple form. 
  • Expertise in documentation and policy writing. 
  • Knowledge of current policies and procedures which affect the Health and Safety management of the business. 
  • Proven ability to identify and analyse situations by isolating key issues, evaluating relevant data and drawing appropriate conclusions. 


  • Experience in gaining external accreditations for a Health and Safety Management Systems (ISO 45001).
  • Knowledge of gas, electrical and asset safety standards which affect the management of the Smart Field Connections business. 
  • A detailed understanding of relevant Health and Safety legislation and standards. 
  • Training, presentation, coaching and facilitation skills. 
  • Proven ability to provide new and creative solutions to problems whilst also challenging established thinking.
