CHP Production Technician

Here's what you'll be doing

Right now, we now have an exciting opportunity at our CHP plant in Kemsley. This flexible two-shifting plant has the capacity to generate up to 80MW of electricity and 200MW of heat. You’ll be part of the onsite team that ensures the smooth running of its day-to-day operation.

This is a busy role that will see you performing a wide range of tasks. Adhering to safety standards, you’ll carry out first-line maintenance across the whole site. Likewise, you’ll also perform operational and project management tasks and resolve issues before they arise. Working designated shifts alongside another technician and a team leader, you’ll be responsible for the safe, efficient running of the entire plant.

It’s a challenge that requires real flexibility as well as technical skills. Equally important, you’ll also need to take pride in your work and be passionate about best practice.

What we need from you

  • An ONC/NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline, and/or the ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of practical industrial experience and/or knowledge to carry out all aspects of plant operation.
  • Sufficient, appropriate and relevant engineering and maintenance experience within a similar role and process industry.
  • First line maintenance experience across relevant discipline area (Process, Electrical, C&I, Mechanical).
  • Experience of operating within safety, environment and operational polices, standards, frameworks and statutory legislation.
  • IOSH (Managing Safely) or equivalent qualification, demonstrating a clear knowledge of safety practices and management.
  • Competence in safety assessment by producing such documents as risk assessments, method statements, manual handling, hot work assessments etc.
  • Willingness and capability of enacting all defined roles within the E&M Safety Rules, and if required the Radiological Safety Rules, achieving required nominations within agreed timescales.

It would be great if you also had

  • A proven ability to identify and analyse situations by isolating key issues, evaluating relevant data and drawing appropriate conclusions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with site teams, and deal with key stakeholders and external organisations.
  • Financial and commercial awareness associated with the activities of the role.
  • A working knowledge of key PC based computer systems.
  • Planning and organisational skills to include effective prioritising of activities.
  • A proactive approach to the role by clearly identifying practical and effective means of improving technical, commercial or procedural aspects related to the role.

  • This role is based at E.ON UK CHP, Kemsley Mill, Sittingbourne, ME10 2SG.
  • This is a fixed term contract role for 12-16 months.
  • The salary range for this role is £50,239 - £55,691. This includes all allowances.
  • This role entails working 12-hour shifts (2 days on, 2 nights on, 6 days off).
  • Due to the nature of this role a Criminal Record Check will be required.
