We have an exciting opportunity for a Electrical Networks Operations Manager to join our Lighting and Grid business. A key member of the leadership team, you’ll report directly into the Head of Lighting and Grid and be accountable for delivering our strategic, physical and financial objectives through the development of our grid connections business and enabling the introduction of E.ON’s innovative smart technologies.

Working on a national basis you’ll not only have the opportunity to shape and develop our electrical network connections business for the future, but you’ll also manage an existing team of team of multi-disciplined engineering and craft teams delivering our current connections, lighting installations and EV charging solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring standards of health and safety are exceeded, productivity and quality of service delivery are maximised, and excellent customer service is delivered.

Lighting and grid are part of the bigger Energy Infrastructure Services organisation that deliver exciting and forward thinking solutions for commercial and domestic developments, new Garden Towns and Smart Cities. As the Electrical Networks Operations Manager you’ll be able to take advantage of these extensive networks and relationships in order to drive joined up solutions, positive outcomes for our business and customers.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Manage the strategic direction of a team of multi-disciplined engineering professional staff and craft teams, ensuring standards of health and safety are exceeded, productivity and quality of service delivery are maximised, and excellent customer service is delivered.
  • Provision of technical, managerial, and commercial support to contractors and internal staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate budgeting for operational costs and forecasting future incomes whilst driving financial results for the business on a continuous basis. Controlling financial risks and maintain a continual focus on financial management and overhead cost reduction.  
  • Manage resource capacity to work volumes to optimise resources and drive productivity.
  • Ownership of the resolution of customer enquiries, complaints and claims within the timescales prescribed by the business.
  • Manage business risks and organisation reputation effectively through regular assessment and management of risks and issues.
  • Manage team and individual development through effective performance management including objective setting, regular feedback and review. Ensure development plans are in place and delivered.

What we need from you

  • An in depth knowledge and understanding of Electrical Distribution Safety Rules and Electrical Safety management systems for Low Voltage and 11kV systems.
  • Previous experience of working on electrical distribution networks and a working knowledge of DNO/IDNO operations.
  • The proven ability to lead, motivate and manage a team to meet operational requirements, deliver great customer service and innovative solutions.   
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of relevant health and safety responsibilities with a detailed knowledge of Utility site safety procedures.
  • A strong track record of delivery of performance targets, including safety, financial and customer service. 
  • Demonstrable commercial/financial acumen with the ability to forecast, manage and monitor the team budget, including identification of opportunities to deliver increased value and/or make budget savings.
  • Experience of managing the engagement of contractors including assessing competence to deliver the services and activities associated with street lighting, EV charging solutions and electrical infrastructure connections.
