- Financial Stewardship: The Vice President Business Controlling EN Germany has the prime responsibility for steering and managing the financial profitability and performance of the Energy Networks business in Germany (“EN GER”). EN GER is E.ON’s largest external Reporting Unit, covering 10 independent companies (“Business Units - BU”) with ca. 25,000 FTEs
- Segment CFO Role: Role of an independent “CFO” for the EN GER segment and reports to the SVP Business Controlling Energy Networks
This includes:
- Finance Interface: Be the main interface concerning financial topics to the Group CFO and the Group COO Energy Networks (COO-N) in particular and the E.ON Board in general
- Performance Management: Develop and implement adequate and managing the CFOs and Finance Directors of all BU in scope via functional authority
- Financial Steering: Prime responsibility for financial steering of EN GER as a segment and all BUs within the remit of E.ON’s overall EN strategy (e.g. defining financial/operational targets for both BU and individual BU CFOs, advising the Board on BU and individual BU CFOs annual target achievement/bonus)
- Stakeholder Management: Managing/motivating a wide-ranging stakeholder landscape including E.ON Board members, SVP EN Germany and BUs
- Regulatory Optimization: Shaping regulatory optimization across all BUs in Germany by ensuring that EN GER is managed and set up in an optimal way from a regulatory and financial perspective
- Capital Allocation: Deciding on capital allocation for EN GER as well as enforcing EN GER-wide valuation principles
- Financial Reporting: Responsibility for overall financial reporting of the entire EN segment for all financial and non-financial KPIs
A convincing background:
- Excellent university degree in Business Administration, ideally complemented by postgraduate studies e.g., MBA, CFA/CPA)
- Extensive leadership experience in various operational and CHQ roles and functions, ideally across multiple business segments
- Expert knowledge of financial management, with in-depth understanding of Controlling, Accounting, Finance and Valuation
- Fair understanding and knowledge of German regulatory system, energy economics, energy law, and characteristics of German concession business
- Very strong leadership skills as a senior leader with gravitas who interacts with varying stakeholders within the BUs and CHQ
- Excellent analytical mindset coupled with ability to think outside the box to develop novel and tangible solutions for various business challenges
- Highly developed communication skills in combination with assertiveness and a strong entrepreneurial spirit
- Excellent ability and willingness to continuously challenge the status quo to drive performance and facilitate change as well as digitization
- Fluency in German and English
