Job description

A job that inspires you:

Be a strategic force in shaping the future of energy: Drive the transformation of our distribution networks – the backbone of a decentralized and sustainable energy supply – by standardizing and strategically developing technical assets across national and international markets

Your Impact

  • Set the strategic direction for key grid components – from cables and transformers to smart metering, substations, lighting, FTTx, overhead lines, and pipes. Develop forward-looking roadmaps that enable a flexible, resilient, and climate-neutral energy system
  • Bridge engineering and procurement by aligning technical decisions with regulatory frameworks, corporate strategy, and climate goals – ensuring every step supports our vision for a sustainable future
  • Lead with vision: Analyze emerging technologies, market trends, and regulatory developments to future-proof our infrastructure and guide strategic decisions across the asset lifecycle
  • Establish group-wide standards and governance structures that combine efficiency, scalability, and sustainability – laying the foundation for intelligent and resilient grids

Your Leadership

  • Take the lead in a virtual expert team: While not disciplinary, your role involves strong functional leadership – guiding cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and driving alignment across technical, commercial, and operational units
  • Champion inclusive leadership: Promote a culture of shared responsibility and innovation, connecting diverse perspectives to accelerate the transformation of our distribution networks
  • Be a catalyst for change: Inspire others by translating complex technical challenges into strategic opportunities for a green energy future

A background that convinces us:

  • Academic Background: A university degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Technology Management, or a related field – ideally with a focus on energy infrastructure, grid operations, or the digitalization of technical systems
  • Professional Experience: Several years of experience in the energy industry, preferably with a distribution system operator (DSO). Experience in technical asset management, grid planning, strategic procurement, or product/portfolio management is a plus
  • Strategic Thinking & Systems Understanding: Strong ability to analyze technical, economic, and regulatory interdependencies and translate them into strategic concepts
  • Communication & Leadership Skills: Ability to moderate across organizational units, align diverse perspectives, and embody an inclusive leadership model. Proven experience in leading and managing interdisciplinary projects and in stakeholder management
  • Languages: Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken

A motivating environment:

  • Responsible, varied, and challenging tasks in a modern working environment
  • A very good work-life balance is supported through flexible working time models and the option to work from home
  • 30 days of annual leave, plus additional days off on Rose Monday, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve.
  • Company pension scheme
  • Training opportunities for both professional and personal development
  • Employee discounts, as well as tax-advantaged car and bike leasing options
  • Support in all life situations through cooperation partners – for example, in the areas of childcare or eldercare
